Call for Submission for Ordtist Magazines:
We call for both contributed and “invited” submissions for the Ordtist Magazine’s introductory issues in the following categories and themes.
Categories and themes:
Literary – Stories, poems, articles, reviews, and essays: on any typical thematic topics such as like nature, love, philosophy, life-style, people or places, culture and heritage. Reviews or columns of different art forms like paintings, photography, music, movies, dance, and drama etc., also describe briefly the scope of this category.
Art, Painting, Photography – Paintings, photography, and computer modified/generated digital visual arts: of nature, love, philosophy, life-style, people or places, culture and heritage, traditional, modern, and abstract art with a title and few lines artist’s description or interpretation (if possible) of their art. The reviews, essays, and articles on arts and artists of the section 1 could be submitted in this category. Point us towards your links, galleries, or website for example of your arts you would like to be written about and we will suggest or work with you on how to exhibit and showcase your art in our magazines and books now and in future.
Food, Wines, and Dinning – Blogs, articles, reviews, and experiences of food, wine, drinks, cocktails in combination with local lifestyle and travel experiences, recipes and restaurants by chefs, professional, and home based foodies, cooks and cook-book authors form the scope of this category.
Music, Songs, and Movies – Articles, review, columns about music, songs, and movies about the classical, traditional, legends, folk, local, upcoming, and indie musicians, songwriters, and producer-directors and script-writers with possibly the links to their music and movies and are invited under this category.
Sci-Tech, Si-Fi, and Future – Articles, stories, reviews and trends of recent frontiers in science and technology, science fiction, and future at the interface of sci-tech, arts and entertainment as well their use in solving the local and global problems form the scope of this category. Few examples for this category are about future with futuristic developments such as space travel and colonization, human-interfacing AI and Robotics, Neuro-morphic or human-like computing and devices and how they are going to effect the world of literature, art, and entertainment.
Not the Theme You are Hoping for – No problems, send us a short paragraph 10-20 lines on any theme not covered above, describing briefly about what would you like to submit as a – story, poem, article, column, review, and we will respond and reach out to you for the next steps.
General Submission Guidelines:
Stories, Articles, Columns, Reviews, Essays, Blogs: Submissions should generally not exceed twenty four hundred* (2,400) words equivalent to 2 magazine pages. However, we encourage shorter length size submissions for stories and reviews in units of 150 words (1/8 page), 300 words (1/4 page), 600 words (1/2 page), 900 words (3/4 page) and 1200 words (1 page). Only in rare and invited** cases we will allow submissions between 1200-2400 words or longer length size 2400-4800 words submissions. We will reach out to you individually for the invited** submissions.
Poetry: For our magazines we like our poetries also to be short with maximum length of no more than twenty-four (24) to thirty-two (32) lines. The poems should be simple, short, in free verse, with natural (not forced) rhyming, or any of the modern poetry forms with no more than 1-12 words per line format. Submissions of simple classic Japanese poetic forms (Haiku, Tanka, Gogyosha) or short free verse poems between 8-12 lines with 2-6 words per line are encouraged. Modern and abstract poems with simple forms, deeper nuanced meanings, and high-quality glossy images are especially encouraged.
* Length and form guidelines are just that: guidelines. Prose and poetry exceeding these length limits or other forms will be considered on a case-by-case basis but generally will be accepted if could be appreciated by your or our next door neighbors or friends. However, if your submission is outstanding, and is on the theme that we desire to focus on, we’ll make room for it. Maximum 2-4 short (equal to or less than 8 lines) or 1-2 longer poem (between 8 - 24 lines) are allowed per submission.

a. Title or Titles of the Poem/s or Short Story/Article submitted or inquired about?
b. Is it previously un-published, published, or shared on Social media? See below for our guide-lines on previously published or excellent shared work on social media.
c. Category and Theme(s) of the work for your submission? See above in the categories and themes described suitable for your submission. For Example it could be: Theme – Literary, Sub-Theme – Nature
d. Submissions: submit the poem/s, short story, article, review, column etc., on “Word doc” as attachment within length and form limitations as described above for each submission.
e. Images: If you have images to accompany your inquiries or submission, please send as attachments to your email.
f. If you still have questions, for all inquiries, write a short email with a paragraph – 10 lines at the most, to describe briefly the nature of poems, articles, stories, columns, reviews, or blogs etc., you are interested in submitting, and send with answers to the items (3a-3c) in your email to submission@ordtist.com.
4. Your short biographical description:
Include your brief bio (up to 50 words only), highlighting any previous accomplishments, significant publications, significant real awards, and links to your key accomplishments.
5. Marketing and Readership Information for Your Submission:
In this section, please answer briefly to the following questions.
a. Are you active on social media – Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or others? Please provide links to your main 1-2 profile pages. If not active say – Not Active on Social Media.
b. Do you have your own website, blogs, or author pages etc.? If yes, please provide links to those? If no website, blog or author pages, say – Not Applicable.
c. Have you created, established, or admin at least one social media group which reflect your broader interests in writing, food-wine-travel blogging, painting, and photographing, music and song creations etc. If you have created, established, admin or moderator any groups on social media, please provide name/s and link to those.
6. Publications Rights:
a. We prefer previously unpublished work. If we select your unpublished submission for publication, we will retain “First Internet Publishing and Exclusive Rights” for only first one (1) month of your work which appears with Ordtist. After the first (1) months of the on-line or in-print publication, all other rights will revert back to You, the submitting author, i.e., if your work is republished or reproduced anywhere else, we will request and “prefer” that you credit Ordtist as the original publisher, where the work first appeared.
b. Our Other Rights will include nonexclusive archival and re-publications rights within future Ordtist online and in-print publications. We will archive all published work indefinitely in our online archives or online magazines/book forms.
c. For good to great quality previously published work or previously appeared work on social media, we will retain non-exclusive Internet and any non-exclusive in-print publishing rights. At the time of publication, all other rights will revert back to You, the submitting author.
7. Payments:
We believe any and all good writing deserves recognition and offer a small or even a token cash payment for each accepted submission. At this point, however, there are no cash payments offered for any accepted on-line or print-media publications for Ordtist Magazine at this stage. After few issues are out we will revisit and announce if/when we will be able to offer small token payments for the accepted submissions.
8. Deadlines:
Deadlines are just deadlines. We are different and are going to be different. The focus will be mainly on the quality for new magazines and publications. We are working on the content/s for the first few issues locally and globally, contributed and invited. For now, we will be open to receive your submissions any time during the year on a rolling basis, until first few issues are out. Excellent submissions will be accommodated one way or other in the current or the next upcoming issue under preparation.
